Today is definitely going to be a double post day since I'm getting a somewhat early start. Luckily, I don't have to work today, so neither post will be about annoying old people that I encounter!
So...check this out...I was TRYING to figure out why my CD-ROM isn't working, and decided to just switch it out. That turned out to be not as simple as I thought it would be....taking apart an HP isn't as easy as a Dell or Compaq, but I did eventually figure it out. So I put in a CD-ROM that I'd only used a couple of times, figuring that would solve the problem, only to realize after the fact that I couldn't find the disc that came with it...so I download the software from the manufacturer's website, but the computer couldn't find the drive!

Sooooo....as it turns out, the computer was saying that the OLD CD-ROM was working fine.....

So I reinstall that one...still doesn't work. Damnit.
Somewhere during the taking apart and putting back together (Lather, Rinse. Repeat!), a big chunk of my "Mozilla Firefox" browser favorites folders VANISHED!!!!

Now, I'm once again in computer hell because I had some really cool shit in those folders!
In my vain attempt to remember the url's of some of those sites, I came across this, and it really does work. It speeds up the performance of your browser ONLY if you have a broadband connection though! DO NOT try this if you have even the slightest inkling that you don't know what you're doing. I don't want a bunch of people forming a posse to plan my untimely demise should you end up blasting your computer into oblivion!

Oh yeah, it also only works on Firefox browsers:
Speed up Firefox. If you have a broadband connection (and most of us do), you can use pipelining to speed up your page loads. This allows Firefox to load multiple things on a page at once, instead of one at a time (by default, it’s optimized for dialup connections). Here’s how:
* Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Type “network.http” in the filter field, and change the following settings (double-click on them to change them):
* Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
* Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
* Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to a number like 30. This will allow it to make 30 requests at once.
(I changed my value to 3000 and it makes pages load MUCH MUCH faster!)
Well, that's it for now...I'm off to Wally World to buy another keyboard!
