Yes, I'm a whole lot late on my post tonight....I had to work until 10pm and then when I came home I had a mysterious visitor. I'd just come in and was talking to the roomie when the doorbell rings....I turn on the porch light and find a black forest cake, a bottle of tequila and margartia mix, and some margarita salt. Of course, there was no one around, but I knew it was my neighbors...they'd said they wanted to buy the roomie some liquor and make him a cake...and the Mr. had decided it'd be funny to do a dump and run! I caught him though in the side yard and we invited him in for a while. So we hang out for a bit and then he goes home...the cake was awesome, but VERY rich!! We haven't tried the liquor yet, mainly because we're both too pooped to get snockered right now!

As for work...well, I finally told my immediate supervisors what was going on...they were actually very supportive of my decision although not at ALL happy about losing me. That made me feel really good. Although I have now found myself 'sort of' committed to working weekends for a while when I start the new job, but I have let them know that if it gets to be too much then the current job is history. Of course they understand that completely. WHEW! So..if for some reason I ever need to go back full time, I can do so with open arms!

As for the customers today...believe it or not, they actually behaved themselves for the most part. Though there were two women who came in while I was at lunch...here's the story they presented to my immediate supervisor and a co-worker:
"I came in the other day and got a credit card. The guy who did the credit card for me didn't make me fill out an application, didn't give me the temporary pass, and didn't give me my initial discount of 10%" My supervisor's response: "You mean to tell me that you REALLY think I'm going to believe that this guy snapped his fingers and gave you a credit account with no application and no temporary shopping pass? Give me a break...it's not possible to do a credit card in this store with no application and no temporary shopping pass, so whatever you're trying to pull, it's not going to work!" It was at this minute that I came around the corner, returning from lunch, and the lady says, "well, it was that guy there, but we don't want to get him into trouble", and they both hurriedly left the store. Come to find out, just ten minutes before this exchange, they'd tried to return two ceiling fans that they'd paid $59 for, but claimed they had no receipt AND that they'd paid $89 for the fans....yes, it appears that we have some scammers on our hands. It still amazes me how stupid some folks can be.

Ok, I REFUSE to obsess about this wait for the background check to come in! Do you hear me?? REFUSE!!! Well, maybe I'll just give a teensy weensy update and that will be all until I hear something concrete! Anyway, so I email this woman who's in charge of all this, and she tells me that she's still waiting to hear back and that she'll let me know when she hears back about the results, etc. NOT what I wanted to hear, obviously, because every day that I don't hear something concrete is another day that I have to deal with THE CUSTOMERS. Anyway, so I send ANOTHER email a few minutes ago, and I get this automated response that she's "out of the office on Friday afternoon and won't have access to email." WHA?? She left early when these results could be sitting on her desk???!!!!! I almost had a meltdown. Ok, well that's enough on that subject.

Now for what you all have been waiting for...more customer stories!!

You all remember The Face of Evil, right? She's the insane woman who makes life miserable for all of us at the desk on a weekly basis. Well, today she came back. Luckily, I spotted her before she spotted me and I literally RAN into the office behind the desk and hid until someone else helped her. Yes, I'm a crud for doing that, but it's a doggie dog world out there, and where this insane woman is concerned, I'm a little Chiuachalaldlel whatever the hell they are! If I would have had to deal with this woman, I'd be writing my post from a jail cell!

Once Evil was gone, I emerged from my safe haven, only to be confronted with the phone call from hell. This guy was looking for the lady who handles installation of floors..she'd called him earlier in the day and left a message for him to call back BEFORE 5pm because she would be gone after that, and wouldn't be back until Monday morning. So, this is SIX THIRTY when he calls....and he gets mad at ME because SHE left at five o'clock! I asked him, "Did she not tell you in her message to call before 5pm?" He replies, "well, yes she did, but I was busy with other things and figured that she would work late since it's Friday." If I could have reached through the phone, I would have slapped the shit out of this moron. Since I couldn't do that, I very curtly explained to him, "given the fact that it is Friday, if anything, Denise would have chosen to leave early, and you can trust me when I tell you that she does not sit around and wait for anyone to call her back before she leaves. Since you chose to wait until an hour and a half after she left, you will have to wait until Monday to speak with her." With that, he demanded that I go into Denise's office and retrieve his paperwork and help him with the problem that he was having. Naturally, at this point, even if I COULD have gotten access to his file, I would have sooner DIED than helped this clown. That's when I went into 'horribly aggravating customer no service mode' and repeated to him three times 'I'm sorry, Denise is out of the office until Monday. Would you care to leave a message?' before he finally screamed and abruptly hung up on me. I smiled at my victory. Another asshole disposed of.

Shortly thereafter, a rather...well....does anyone remember Captain Kangaroo's hairdo? Well picture that hairdo, but bald on top, and that's what the NEXT joker looked like. He and his equally ugly wife approached me and babbled something about not being able to find anyone in the store to help them find what they needed, and that this was the second time that they'd tried to find what they were looking for and that they were leaving! I didn't even have a chance to ask what in the hell they were looking for to begin with! Let me just ask something...WHAT in the hell gets into these people who want to come up, babble incoherently, and then announce that they're leaving? I'm expecting any day now for some so called ADULT to throw themselves on the floor kicking and screaming like a child! I'm also beginning to believe that I have a tattoo on my forehead that reads, "Please...tell me your troubles...I care!"

Well, I got an e mail back from the agency just a few minutes ago...GAHHHHH....still nothing from the background check! I'm going NUTS!!

I'm off to work now....*sigh Will be back later to rant and rave some more!

Anyone who knows me, or who reads this blog KNOWS that I am NOT a patient person when it comes to a lot of things....especially things that I want to happen for the betterment of myself! For instance...we all know that I've been on pins and needles for the last few weeks about this new job...I STILL haven't heard the results of the background investigation as of today, so I call the agency that got me the job. Naturally, I got voice mail, left a message, and then sent an e mail. Nothing.

Damnit.

I'm quickly losing what scrap of patience I've managed to conjure up the last few weeks. The REALLY annoying thing is EVERY SINGLE TIME that I have to call this agency I get VOICEMAIL. What the hell?! Why can't these heifers answer their damn phones once in a while?

Maybe I'm just getting my man period. I've been in a crabby mood all day today. Ugh. I hope it's over by tomorrow...and I'm feeling a bit bloated today too. They should have something called "Manprin" .....
